Halloween Hop!

Welcome!  Thanks for including me in your rounds this All Hallows weekend!  Here are my favorite ways to spend the spookiest time of year:

Movies : Pumpkinhead, The Shining, The Grudge, Trick ‘r Treat

TV Show : Millennium : The Curse of Frank Black

Books : The Shining, Rosemary’s Baby, The House with the Clock in Its Walls, The Well, The Haunting of Hill House

Experience :  Living in a 300 year old haunted house in rural Belgium

Costume :  Horror writer living a double-life as a software developer

Carving Pumpkins : Yes!!!

Displaying Odd Shaped Gourds on Almost Every Shelf in the House : Yes

Extra candy for the kid who knows what Pumpkinhead and Millennium have in common! Where by ‘extra candy’ I mean you get to look at the picture posted below. Now, I’ve tagged a photo of a leering Jack before, but check out the creepy pumpkin in this picture!

  1. Hi. I forgot about pumpkin head. Yeah that was freaky. Just passing by through the hop to say hi! My scariest book is It by Stephen King. Scariest movie…well, I have a few. This year I’d have to say 13th ghost ’cause I just saw something that reminded me of it.

  2. Hello! Stopped by as part of the Halloween blog hop! Love your blog title – Happy Horror Writer -off hand it sounds like a contradiction, but why assume a horror writer isn’t happy?

I see you are new to blogging! How exciting! I look forward to following you on your journey!

  4. Happy Halloween Hop, Aniko – good to *meet* you! You’re the third person tonight to recommend The Haunting of Hill House, and the first to push Pumpkinhead…looks like I’ll have to check out both of them 😉

  5. Some great choices here. And The Shining is another good one. I think that would be my favorite scary movie. Not necessarily what I would consider my scariest, but definitely one of the best. I don’t usually drop links, but you might enjoy my post “10 movies that scared the bejeezus out of me” if you haven’t caught it yet. You could be the first to add Pumpkinhead in the comments.

    • I added my pitch for Pumpkinhead to your 10 movies list! Do you find adding your tag increases foot traffic to your site? I have been relying on the link associated with my name to bring interested people to my blog. In any case, please feel free to continue to leave your tag on all comments. I appreciate you taking the time to visit and write!

      • I saw and replied to your addition of Pumpkinhead. Much thanks.

The tagline thing is a crapshoot as far as I can tell. There’s mild debate on whether or not it’s spammy, but most bloggers seem to concur that if you are leaving comments that are actually relevant to the post, it’s acceptable. I haven’t had anyone tell me they didn’t want me doing it, and in my tracking I have noticed a handful of hits that come from other people’s blogs. Who knows if they would have clicked on me anyway just because of the comment I left?

        Happy continued Halloween hoppin’!

  6. Happy Halloween! The Grudge scared the sh*t out of me. Scariest book was It. I read this when I was seven, and afterwards, would never shower or use the bathroom without inspecting the drains first. I did not dress up this year, because I’m lame. I’ll try to remedy that next year.

P.S. Congratulations on moving towards publication!
