A Hop, Series and a Jump

Hop!

I’m going to participate in a Halloween blog hop hosted by suspense author Jeremy Bates!

Series!
I am new to blogging. I have been a casual reader of a few blogs over the years, and a dedicated reader of one particular blog, but it turns out this was not sufficient to prepare me for the pitfalls of being a new blogger. In particular, I was not clear on the correct way to run a blog series. I made novice mistakes with the first two posts in my How to Complete a Novel series. The first is that I used the same title for both posts. I mistakenly thought that indicating the ‘Part’ in the main blog post would make it clear what I was doing. The second is that I did not give a particular tag to mark the posts. I am have fixed both mistakes. The series tag is “How to Complete a Novel.” Thanks for you patience!

Jump!

    • I don’t think that anything will come to you in an email, but what I can do is keep a list of places that I visit and include them in a post here. That way, you will get an email about my post and can then choose to visit whichever of the blogs I visited that look interesting to you. Thanks for visiting me here!

    • Nice to meet you, Nora! I love the name of your blog. I took a peek in between eating dinner and cooking for a potluck luncheon at work tomorrow, and am sure I’ll be back often. I’ll save the Trick or Treat of an in depth visit during this weekend’s hop!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Halloween Hop

I want to thank Jeremy Bates for the chance to participate in this blog hop.

My Favorite monster movie – Hellraiser
My Costume – Dragon (well the wings of a dragon and the rest is my sexy self)
And I am now following this Blog (yay)

I have read quite a few of the posts on this blog and I do believe I shall
be reading more as I have found them interesting to say the least. I hope that my participation brings this blog more visitors and that those turn into more readers for this blog’s future. Thanks for being a participant and for those visiting this blog for the first time. Please comment, that is what we bloggers live for. 🙂

  2. Blogging is indeed a crazy world, especially is one is using it as a marketing tool in addition to a creative medium (I’m about smack dab in the middle, but often it feels more like I’m leaning toward the former).

There’s definitely a learning curve, but I find bloggers are a pretty accepting (and when need-be, forgiving) group of people.

Looking forward to getting back at my leisure and reading your two-parter. Even though I’ve finished my first novel (but is it ever finished?), I’m now staring down the barrel of getting back to my next novel project. Yikes.

    Anyway, Happy Halloween Hop!

    • Paul, hi –

The marketing aspect is why I decided to finally start a blog, but the creative outlet is the part I really enjoy. I didn’t realize how gratifying it would be to ‘meet’ other writers online, or how much fun. There’s something very liberating about not allowing geography or time zones keep me from connecting with like-minded people.

Thanks for your comments! Beware that the two-parter is going to expand into many pieces! I’ll try to keep them short and interesting, though!

Also, congrats on finishing the first novel! My first goes to a copy editor next week. That makes it feel official and real and just, wow, I’m really doing this! 🙂
